Last Fellowship of the summer! Can you believe it? We’ll be meeting for worship Friday night (TOMORROW) after the concert at Stables. That’s going to be probably around 9:30 pm.

Also, please let me know if you’re planning on being part of the Fellowship outing on Saturday. We’ll leave at 10:00 am for Pretty Place at Camp Greenville where we’ll worship and share and have a grand time. We’ll be back by 2:00 in time for the BMCO dress rehearsal with Yo-Yo Ma. Let me know if you’d like to come in order that we can organize rides.

Our next fellowship time will be MONDAY, August 1 at 9:00 pm, Stables. Note the change in day and time! Jonathan Keener and Naomi Bate will be sharing.

On Friday night, August 5, we’ll have our last fellowship of the summer. This will be a special time of prayer—of thanksgiving for lessons learned and blessings of the summer, and of commissioning as we each return to our homes and schools and the ministries we have been called to there.

Christian Fellowship end-of-the-summer outing is planned for Saturday, August 6 from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. The outing will include a waterfall trip and lunch, and we’ll return in time attend the Yo-Yo Ma dress rehearsal.

Please email valerie.c.hsu@vanderbilt.edu if you’d like to be added to the Christian Fellowship email list. And as always, feel free to email with any questions or concerns!

On Sunday, July 24, the Christian Fellowship held its second annual Soli Deo Gloria concert. Students performed a mix of classical and sacred music and shared testimonies, after which followed a time of worship. Our goal through it all was to bring God glory and praise, and to demonstrate what Christ in music and what it means to be a Christian musician. The concert was a special evening of fellowship and worship, and we felt the presence and pleasure of God.

  • The 5:00 van has been CANCELLED. If you feel you should leave for the church at that time, call or text me at (864) 373-1843 and I can get you a ride then.
  • Instead, there will be two vans at 5:20 and two vans at 5:30. They’ll be waiting for you at Stables.
  • Let your friends know about the change in van pick-up times!!
  • Chorus members: Be at the church by 5:30 to run through the songs.
  • Ladies, please dress modestly. We’re performing in a relatively conservative community, and we want to respect that. Try to have your knees covered, and don’t wear anything too low-cut.
  • Fellowship this Sunday will take place at 6:00 at Stables. Note the time change! Please spread the word! Esther Shin, assistant dean here at the music center, will be sharing her testimony and playing for us that night.
  • We’ll be meeting at Stables at 5:45 to pray for the concerto finalists competing that night before Fellowship begins.
  • GIRLS NIGHT! Ladies, please meet at the picnic tables in front of Hoeppner-Scott when the concert’s over on Saturday night. Come join us for a time of fellowship and discussion, and invite your friends!
  • The Soli Deo Gloria concert will be taking place Sunday, July 24, which is a week from this Sunday. 6:00 pm, First Baptist Church. I’ll be sending out info later about rehearsals for the choral piece featuring the Christian Fellowship; anyone is welcome to sing with us!

Just a reminder to let me (valerie.c.hsu@vanderbilt.edu) know if you’re interested in performing on the Soli Deo Gloria concert on Sunday, July 24 at 6:00 pm. The concert will be a special event where we get to show the Brevard community what it means to be a Christian musician through sharing our music, our testimonies, and the stories behind the composers’ faith.

You’re welcome to perform your classical rep or hymn arrangements. And if you’d like to participate but don’t know what to perform, let me know anyhow. I can place you in a chamber group with other individuals in your same boat.

  • This Sunday, we’ll be meeting for fellowship at 8:30 pm at Stables. Piano faculty Mrs. Shen will be sharing her testimony and playing for us.
  • Please let me know ASAP if you’d like to perform on our Soli Deo Gloria concert!
  • We have a stock of extra Bibles available if you’d like one to pass on to a friend. They’re stored in Mrs. Shen’s studio, Hill Studio 4, where we meet for prayer meeting in the mornings. Help yourself to those.

Enjoy your weekend, and I’ll see you Sunday!

Happy 4th of July!

Just a couple points of note:

  • Picnic tonight, 6:30 at the Pavilion. There will be lots of food, but try to eat dinner beforehand.
  • Change of location: Beibei’s Bible study on the book of Acts will now be meeting at the picnic tables behind Thomas Hall.
  • High school guys study: Joe Kingma is leading a study specifically for high school guys. If you are a high school guy and would like more info, you can contact Joe at josephbyronkingma@gmail.com.

See you tonight!

Our Bible studies schedule will begin tomorrow, which is Thursday, June 30.

And the schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday at 1:00: Julianne and Stephanie will be leading a study on the book of John at the picnic tables outside of Thomas Hall.
  • Friday at 4:30: Beibei will be leading a study of Acts at the French Quarter.
  • Tuesday at 1:00: Naomi will lead on the book of Romans at the picnic tables outside of Thomas Hall.
  • Wednesday at 1:00: Erika will lead a study on the first letter to the Thessalonians at the French Quarter.

You are all welcome to attend any (or all!) of these studies. Just pick one and go!

The purpose of these studies is two-fold. First, these studies will be a place of discussion, where a group of both believers and seekers can gather to just talk about God’s Word–what it says, what it means, and what it means to our lives today. Second, these Bible studies will hopefully provide a small group for your time here at the music center, where you can find prayer partners, accountability, and people to do life with.

I hope you can make it! God’s already put these groups together, and I can’t wait to see what He’ll do with them in the next couple of weeks.

And as always, if you have questions, feel free to email us for more information.

Our first fellowship will actually be at 8:30 on Sunday, June 26 due to a meeting for all the pianists that evening.

Additionally, the leaders meeting has been rescheduled as well due to dorm meetings taking place Friday night. Please check your email for details!

Can’t wait to see you all.
